Eye Spy What's Right!

All students, teachers and members of the community in School Districts 6 & 8 will have an opportunity to participate in EYE SPY WHAT’S RIGHT this month. This fun, easy, interactive event is taking place May 26th – 30th and is part of our Celebrate What’s Right with the World initiative.

How does it work?
During the week of May 26th and May 30th, students, staff and members of the community will have the opportunity to log-on to our EYE SPY WHAT’S RIGHT website and tell us something that is RIGHT with the world! Everyone who participates will be eligible for a prize! It’s that easy!

Win Prizes & Be Recognized!

An elementary school, middle school and high school in each school district with the greatest participation will win the EYE SPY WHAT’S RIGHT Trophy!

Random draws will be held so that one student from each grade level in every school will win an EYE SPY WHAT’S RIGHT prize!

Prizes will also be awarded to members of the community and School staff!

So start thinking about what YOU think is RIGHT with your world – and share the details with us starting May 26!

Another busy week is upon us in the Grade 8 wing at Forest Hills. I am excited that my new SMARTBOARD has been installed and we are using it daily to enhance our learning in Math and Science classes. The students seem to be excited as well as we embark on this new avenue of learning together in our classes.
We will be continuing to review and prepare for the upcoming Math assessment which will take lace the second week of June. Students are encouraged to attend daily extra help sessions at noon hour if required. They simply need to speak to me a day in advance and come with their questions and concerns.
The Health classes will be finishing the year with the Human Growth and Development module. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please email me or contact me at the school.

Have a great week.

April 6th 2008

What a beautiful spring day today is!! April is upon us and in my Math classes we will be working hard to prepare for the Grade 8 Assessment coming up in June. Students should be practicing 13 mental math questions in 2 minutes frequently at home. We will be doing these in class as this is a key part of assessment. We will also be working hard to cover the remaining curriculum prior to the assessment. Students who have particular questions or problem areas are encouraged to seek extra help at noon.
High school registrations are complete and your child should have received confirmation of their High School placement provided they successfully complete Grade 8. We have about 50 school days remaining and we all know how fast time flies. Encourage your child to do their best as I always do.
Have a nice day.
